I desperately follow the floating object. Running through trees
and bushes, hearing the crashing noises and unnerving screams behind
me. Suddenly, the object falls to the ground at the base of a hill. I
grab it and throw it in the air again, but it just falls back down to
the same spot each time. Not sure what was going on and hearing the
noises behind me getting close, I grab the object and dash around for
somewhere to hide.
That's when it happened. I'm not
sure what triggered it, but the next moment I was watching a tree being
pushed over as those eyes appear around the trunk when suddenly, I'm
falling. After what seemed like an eternity, I hit the ground, hard. A
loud crack echos around the walls as I land on the stone floor. I
scream as the pain of the broken leg takes over. I take off my backpack
and scramble for a torch. Fumbling with the flint and steel in the
darkness of the cavern, and the pain of the broken leg, I hadn't noticed
the object glowing again.
As I get the torch lit, I
hear the screaming again. I quickly scramble up to my feet and fall
hard to the nearby wall, forgetting about my broken leg. That's when I
notice the object begin rolling down the floor. I watch as it rolls
around the corner, out of sight. Before I can decide if I should follow
the object, the decision is made for me as I hear the scream, louder
than ever.
I hobble against the wall as I follow
the object. Deeper and deeper into the maze of stone hallways. Past
iron doors and cages of rooms filled with bones. In my haste to follow
the object, I failed to see a lone stone brick on the floor. I slip on
it and fall to the floor, and down some stairs. I must have hit my
head, because when I opened my eyes, it was throbbing. I slowly get up
and try to get my bearings.
As soon as I spot the
object, I hear the screaming behind me, from around the corner.
Suddenly, I see the eyes again. I turn and dash towards the object,
which had rolled into a brightly lit room, a room lit by lava. I
stumble up the steps in front of me to see, well, I don't really know
what I see. All I can make out is blackness in this ring of objects. A
crashing sound turns my attention away to what's behind me. I see..
him. Feeling a fear I haven't never felt before, I look into his eyes.
Stories told to me as a kid, stories I thought that were told to kits
to get them to go to sleep, flash through my mind. I notice his gaze
shift to the object in my hand and he takes a step forward. A blaze
haze begins to form behind him as he moves forward, slowly moving
forward. As his hand reaches out for me, something happened!
"Wha.. wha... what happened Grandpa!?" shouts the little girl at my
feet. "What? Oh, what happens next you ask?" I ask, looking at the
little girl at my feet. She looks up at me with feareful eyes, "yes
Grandpa! That's what I asked!" I smile into those innocent eyes.
"Haha, young one. The store is far too scare to continue. Perhaps I'll
tell you the rest when you're older." The boy, the girl's brother
looks around, shaking. "But... but... mom and dad said the boogeyman
doesn't exist!"
I smile as I lean forward "Ahh, but
he does exist! I have seen him myself! Though, you don't have to
worry. It is said he only comes out when his treasure has been taken."
"But you stole the treasure, Grandpa!" both the little kids shout as
they look around nervously. "That was ages ago young ones, though I may
have the treasure, he has not haunted me since..." my sentence trails
off as the wind outside cottage blows, and I hear a faint sound. A
sound all too familiar.

A Chance Encounter with... Him... Pt 5
I recoil from the object. Terrified, it takes me a few moments to
look at my hand. The large gash was gone! My hand was completely
healed! I slowly get to my feet as I hear a loud bang behind me. I
quickly turn around to see a figure. Even in the dark night, I can see
it, I know it's intentions. It's after me!
I turn and quickly grab my backpack from the chest and strap on my sword. I grab the object from the floor and burst through the front door. Just as I enter the forest, I hear crashing noises. I quickly look behind me as I see my cabin, the one I built with my hands, fly apart! "Oh.. no..." I moan as I spot the figure, and those eyes. Those eyes turn right at me and stare. I'm paralyzed with fear as I stare into those eyes.
The wind knocks loose an apple from a nearby tree that hits me in the temple. I groan and shake my head to clear the stars from my vision. I don't see the eyes, where did they go!? "Get away from me!" I shout and throw the object away. I see it once again fly off into the air and hear a scream behind me. Not even thinking, I follow the floating object...

A Chance Encounter with... Him... Pt 4
Not really sure what the object is, I had found it during my last
trip in the nearby abandoned mine. I had spotted inside a dungeon. It
about three hours to clear all the monsters from the area as well as
clearing the rubble around the object. I wasn't really sure why it
attracted my attention, but it didn't really matter at the time. I had
tossed it into my mine cart with the rest of my haul, not even giving it
a second thought.
Well, I'm thinking about it now. A few drops of my blood had landed on the object, and it was glowing an unnatural greenish-blue. As I watched it, I realized just how much it looked like an eye. I heard that unnatural moan again, without thinking, I kicked the object. It shot up into the air a ways, and floated there, inside the cabin.
I stared blankly at it. As suddenly as it shot into the air, it fell to the ground, no longer glowing. I was drawn to this object, regardless of the fear I felt. "This thing... this object... it's not natural..." I stutter. I watch in horror as my injured hand is drawn to the object. Unable to stop myself, I grab it. As I do, I see those soulless eyes again...

I take the fish off of the fire and take to the cupboard. I
sprinkle a few crushed herbs onto the fish and sit back down in my
chair. I nervously eat, keeping my eyes wandering across the cabin for
any more disturbances. I clean the cabin up some after my tasty dinner,
my nerves settled now. I easy back into my chair and grab my book.
After a few minutes of reading, the book falls from my hand. Not from fright, but from exhaustion. Not really sure how much time passed, but I awoke to the howling wind. The first thing I notice is that it's almost pitch-black. All the torches and fireplace had gone out. "What the..? Why are my torches out?" I get up from my chair and stumble towards my chest of tools. Fumbling for my flint and steel, I slice my hand on an axe. "Ahh, that smarts." I groan.
I continue fumbling and eventually find the flint and steel. After three strikes, the first torch sparks to life. I set the flint and steel down as I look for a cloth to bind my injured hand. Bleeding rather profusely, I don't notice the trail of blood on the floor. I trip over something and fall hard to the floor. My search for a bandage is lost as I stare at the object I tripped over...

I jump, probably as high as the ceiling, but I'm not sure. I let
out a gulp as I stare at the door. Knees shaking, heart racing, beads
of sweat forming on my brow again. "I.. I... I... is.... is someone....
there...?" I stutter at the door. No response. I gulp again as I
slowly move towards the door. Each step painfully loud as the wooden
floor creaks.
My hand slowly moves toward the latch on the door, easing it open, being as quite as possible. I gulp again as I swing the door open to... nothing. I grab a nearby torch and step out onto the porch. I look around as the wind blows by. Not seeing what could have made the noise, I step back into my cabin. I place the torch back into it's holder near the door. I close and latch it as I let out a sigh of relief. "The wind, must have been the wind."
Chuckling to myself for being scared so easily, I casually turn around, and freeze. All I notice is the eyes of a disembodied head floating in front of me. White, soulless eyes. I couldn't tell you if they floated there for a second or for an hour, it seemed like an eternity to me. Another pop from the fire causes me to jump... again. As I desperately try to slow the beating of my heart, I look again, but don't see the head, or those eyes. "Good, I don't want to see them again!" I shout as I walk over to the fire...

A Chance Encounter with... Him... Pt 1
The day started off like any other. It was a brisk, cool morning
in Fall. The harvest had been good this season and my spirits were
high. I complete my morning stretch routine and walk down the gravel
road to the animal pens. I can hear the groan of a burning zombie in
the distance, racing to find shelter from the morning sun. As I round
the corner of my house, I hear a light noise from behind me, and that
all too familiar hiss.
I dash forward and roll. Leaping to my feet with a spin, I draw my sword from it's sheath and point it towards the Creeper. It scowls and hisses at me as I calmly and slowly walk backwards. It's glaring eyes staring at me with hatred as it follows. Before either of us makes a move, I hear a swish sound as an arrow flies by my ear and embed itself into the Creeper. No longer concerned with me, it dashes off towards the skeleton archer that attacked it accidentally. I give a sigh as I sheath my sword.
The rest of the day proceeds uneventful, completing my daily tasks of feeding the animals, exploring a nearby abandoned mine, harvesting raw ore for processing into new tools. The trouble began as the setting sun peaked over the nearby mountain range. An unnatural breeze blew by, carrying with it an unsettling moan. A kind of moan that is only spoken in the quiet corners of a pub, or at camp fire horror stories.
To say I was nervous was an understatement. My knees started shaking as beads of sweat appeared on my brow. "Woah, get a hold of yourself, Steve." I let out a deep sigh and regain my composure. I look at the nearby mountains, but don't spot anything. I walk into my cabin to prepare dinner. My nerves still on edge as I coax my fireplace back to life. I skewer a fish and place it over the fire. The smell of the fish roasting calms me. I sit back in a chair and open a nearby book.
I quickly drop it as that moan rustles through the trees. My knuckles white as a deep fear takes over and I grip the arms of the chair hard enough to leave a tiny indent. A snap from the fireplace startles me. I slowly my breath and wipe the beads of sweat from my brow. I calm my racing heart as I head to the fireplace. As I look the fish over, there is a bang at the door...

A Halloween Story
It was a dark and stormy night...
All Hallow's Eve is almost upon us! For many, it's a time to dress up as something scary or fun, getting lots of candy and having a sugar rush. For others, it means parties and costume contests. Few recognize the roots of Halloween, if you are one that doesn't know the history of Halloween, click here.
While I'm not bringing you any Minecraft news today, I did want to take the opportunity while I have your attention of something I have been working on for the occasion, a story. Throughout the day tomorrow, parts of a story will be released that I have been working on. Please subscribe to my blog or follow my Twitter (@_Kryptix) so you'll know when the parts are released.
I hope you enjoy the story and share it with your friends on such a spooky holiday!

Winter Village - A Minecraft Christmas
It's beginning to look a lot of like... Christmas?
Greetings Minecrafters! On this Featured Build Tuesday, I came across this village built by _Sonicknight35. While I am one that normally doesn't like how holidays push into others (Christmas is really bad about that), I couldn't help but like this map.
Weary from your travels, you begin to detect the faint smell of baking bread on the wind. As the sun begins cresting over the trees, you can see the smoke rise from the tall chimneys. You can hear kids cheer as they see the fresh snow on the ground. You can smell the aromas of bread and other baked goods as you enter the small village.
"Ahh, welcome to our little village, frined!" you hear from a gruff voice. The owner is a tall man with a thick bear and a wide grin. "You must be weary and hungry from your travels! Come, follow me to the Mist Veil Tavern!" As you travel the village streets, you can see the children throwing snowballs by the windmill, adults traveling to and fro, completing their daily tasks.
A hearty chorus of a ballad you don't recognize bursts from the tavern as the doors swing open. "Hey lads! Treat our guest to some of the village's finest, will ye?" shouts the gruff man beside you. "Here here!" is shouted as all those in the tavern greet you, with a pint of the finest brew. The weariness of your travels begin to slip away as you join in the merriment.
What drew me to this map is the rustic design of the houses. Just walking around through the village makes me think of the people that would be dashing around, complete chores or selling wares in the square. From the parquet flooring in the ind to the quaint watch tower guarding over the inhabitants, it makes me think of a close knit community. A place where everyone looks out for each other and celebrate during the holidays, being grateful for the land has provided.
As we get closer to the holiday season, think of all the benefits you have and be grateful for life brings. While we all have our rough times, there is always a light at the end. Without having the downs, we can't truly be grateful for the times that are good.

How Are You Enjoying 1.7?
Did you take the blue pill?
Greetings Minecrafters! Now that the 1.7 update has been out, how have you been enjoying it? Playing on your favorite servers or single player? Have you earned the "Adventuring Time" achievement? Tried out the the amplified world generator yet?
I'd love to hear some of the new experiences you are all enjoying with 1.7. Leave a comment below or click here to leave one! I myself have had a busy weekend getting both of OmniKraft's servers up and running with 1.7. If you would like to be part of a great community and enjoy the new experiences of 1.7, you can either join va.omnikraft.net (Vanilla) or bk.omnikraft.net (Bukkit).
Though a lot of nice features have been added, it hasn't been without it's bugs. Bukkit/Spigot servers that are currently using the 1.7 Spigot jar are experiencing issues, such as appearing offline, plugins not working (this is to be expected), as well as the new biomes aren't generating. Some have reported not being able to craft the tinted glass.
I personally hope that Grum and Dinnerbone will get to work this week and provide a bug fix for 1.7.2. Besides myself, I've seen others complain about other bugs, some are saying that 1.7 shouldn't have been released yet. With the work I spent getting OmniKraft up, I can agree with that.

Amazing Minecraft Wallpapers
The update that changed the world!
That is what the 1.7 update is being heralded as. So many things have been added, so many that I'd be crazy to try to list it all here (you can find a link to said list here). That isn't what you're here for, because if you were, you still wouldn't be here, you'd be playing Minecraft and playing with the new features.
Anywho, what you are all here for is some Minecraft fun on this wonderful Friday! I happened to have come across this wonderful wallpaper website, The Paper Wall. The first thing I always end up searching for is Minecraft, and I wasn't disappointed. Check the link below to see what they offer, or view a few that I picked. Enjoy!

1.7 Pre- Release!
It's almost here!
Much sooner than I expected, Dinnerbone released, yesterday, the 1.7 pre-release. For those that don't know, this is the final version before 1.7 becomes public. It's used for resource pack artists to get the final touches done and modders to finish up their coding with the new code base. Friday, Dinner bone is expecting to make 1.7 public, pending any major issues in the pre-release.
While not everyone is into trying the snapshots, and not everyone follows the news of the release notes of what's being added, Dinnerbone was very kind to supply a list of everything that was done in 1.7. Dubbed the "Updated the Changed the World", 1.7 is definitely one of the largest undertakings the team at Mojang has done for a Minecraft release. Compatible to the "Adventure Update", I"m sure. I highly encourage all of you to visit the link below and read up on what to expect this Friday!

1.7 News
It's coming!
Hello Minecrafters! We are getting closer to the public release of 1.7! As mentioned on Mojang's website, "To celebrate the upcoming pre-release, here’s a snapshot with extra bugs for added value!" What this means to me is that the pre-release of 1.7 will be this Thursday, Oct 24, and the public release will be Halloween, Oct 31.
The community on OmniKraft's Vanilla server has been enjoying many of the features. The new biomes have been great the explore. I personally have been using the new command block features to provide new benefits to the players, such as setting up donor kits. If you'd like to see a lot of the new features yourself, visit va.omnikraft.net, using the most recent snapshot version.
In the meantime, stay tuned and I'll bring you the latest information about the snapshots!

My Modest Bungalow
It's almost Friday!
Greetings and salutations Minecrafters! Since it's Thursday, that means I bring you a build of my own design! The first iteration of this started on friend's server, 3ggu. Just a modest home to keep myself safe during the night and store the spoils of my spelunking.
From there, I've used and adjusted the design a few times to what it is now. It's a build I've been very proud, especially since I think I did a wonderful job decorating the interior (which I suck at). As the front door creaks open, the crackle and warmth of the fire draw you in. A light melody plays on the nearby jukebox. Before you can get too settled on the comfy wood-framed couch, your stomach grumbles.
You get up and walk through the modern style kitchen and grab a tasty sandwich. As you sit back down on the couch, you know you can relax as you know you're home.
Minecraft IRL
Virtual Minecon anyone!
On that subject, I wanted to let everyone know who is following me that I will be representing OmniKraft in the Virtual Minecon. We've setup a booth on a plot that Alex13m picked up and we worked together to get the booth built. If you see me on there, make sure to visit!
Anywho, on a more fun note, I bring you today's post! I can say the animator of this has had too long of a Minecraft session and could use a break. Though, in their defense, I'd probably do that as well working on a redstone circuit!

R.I.S. Titans Embrace
Why isn't it Friday yet?
Greetings Minecrafters! Today's featured build is a doozy, brought to us by JJ1forces. It is a work in progress, but boy, does it look amazing! I give kudos to those who can build such large structures and do it well. It appears to be in a 1:1 scale, but the builder doesn't provide that. Below is his description and a link to the build.

The flagship of the Ithean navy. Armed with 112 broadside cannons and 4 chasers. Copperplated hull against rot and weeds that might endanger the integrity of the ship.
Further detailing will come, as well as the rigging of the ship.

Full Screen Mario
Itsa me! Mario!
Hello Tech-heads! Today's post is a rather fun project! A website built around the HTML5 framework brings us Super Mario Bros! Not only did they re-create the original levels, they also provide a map editor!
There could be thousands of original levels to play through and challenge your retro platform skills! If you want to give it a try, visit the link below.

Bondzor's Estate
Where the party at?
Greetings and a warm salutations! It was unfortunate not to have this post out on Tuesday, but I bring another wonderful build featured on Planet Minecraft! This build is brought to us by Survivor557. I'm an avid fan of modern style and love seeing it in Minecraft. It takes a lot of creativity to bring modern style to Minecraft with the selection blocks that are available. When I see it as well done as Survivor557, I just have to share!
He also gets bonus points in my book for having renders of his build, since I am a fan of making rendered images. A fun fact, I was the one that made the background for both my blog and story!

1.7 Progress
X to the Box!
Hello again Minecrafters! Unfortuantely, the progress for 1.7 hit a snag last week. For those who didn't know, Grum and Dinnerbone both posted about difficulties they experienced in getting last week's snapshot up. Apparently the network code was being quite troublesome.
Hope of course is not lost! Grum and Dinnerbone have been hard at work to bring a snapshot this week! Not sure if there will be any feature requests, but any progress made to get 1.7 public is good progress!

Zombie Powered Pumpkin / Melon Farm
What does the squid say?
Greetings again Minecrafters! Automation is a lot of fun to setup in Minecraft, and one of the most popular tasks to automate is farming. Dcom77 brings us a a way to automate a melon / pumpkin farm and this surprisingly clever and efficient idea. Using the new path finding algorithms with mobs, an efficient and automatic melon / pumpkin farm is managed by a kid zombie. Check the video below on how it was made!

OutRun: Augmented Reality Driving Video Game
Up with tech!
Hello again Tech heads! Today's post brings an interesting twist on the concept of augmented reality. If you're not sure what augment reality is, click here. I for one think augmented reality with driving is a necessity for safer driving. Why bother with headlights that fail when you can have night vision? Wouldn't have to worry about blind spots as a panorama of what's around the car can be displayed in front of you.
Anywho, check out the below video to see how the video game, Out Run has been turned into augmented reality.

Here it comes!
Greetings again Minecrafters! Today's post is of an amazing build brought to us by The Redstone Works. They promote this map as an entirely new gamemode for Minecraft. Below is a description of their build.

Knights of Kingdomia is a Minecraft multiplayer game designed for 2 to 14 people which is played on specially constructed maps. Players divide into two teams and compete to capture the opposing team’s castle. To capture a building, simply stand on the pressure plate of your team’s colour.Capturing resource farms will automatically grant your team currency points over time. These points come in 14 types (stone, wood, iron, diamonds and gold among others) and can be spent in shops in order to buy weapons, armour, food and other items. The unique gameplay of Knights of Kingdomia requires no mods or texture packs. Simply download and play! The YouTube video of the map is quite epic and you can tell a ton of work went into this build. If you want to give this amazing map a spin, click on the link below!

1.7 Update - Minecart w/ Command Block
Minecrafters say what!?
Greetings again! The 1.7 update has been coming along quite well. A lot of new things have been added and bugs have been fixed. As usual, Mojang does a wonderful job bringing the Minecraft community with great and original ideas. One I stumbled upon is the Minecart with a Command Block. You can find information about it here:

One idea that comes to mind is an easier and more scale-able clock activated command. Do you have some ideas on what this new feature could provide? I'd love to hear them! Leave a comment below and start a discussion!

3 X 3 Piston Door
Creepers gonna creep!
Hello again! Today's featured build is a bit different, it's a Redstone build! I for one enjoy using redstone to setup automation or to even play practical jokes! One of the trickiest builds with redstone and with pistons is making doorways. Now, doorways that are one to two blocks wide are easy, anything larger than that and it becomes exponentially more complex.
I came across this build and immediately liked the design. Besides how well it's made and simple to use, doomblah also provided a horizontal version of the build! Not every day do I see a piston door that works on the X plane. Kudos to you!
